Hindsight

Medieval History Quiz

This medieval quiz runs from Hastings in 1066 to the Black Death across 7 questions, with Magna Carta on the route. Each answer comes from a record written twice and matched key by key.

The span these questions cover

The set opens at Hastings in 1066 and runs forward to the Black Death, with Magna Carta on the road between them. That is the medieval frame in three fixed points — a conquest, a charter, a catastrophe — and the 7 questions keep inside it, asking about the people, dates, and consequences attached to each landmark. Nothing earlier, nothing later; the span is the subject.

Checking the record twice

Hindsight’s dataset existed before any of its quizzes did, and it was written twice. Two authors, working separately, each compiled 149 catalog facts and a complete list of all 47 US presidencies; the two versions were then compared key by key. The result: 149 of 149 facts verified, and every one of the 47 presidency records in agreement on all fields. Where the two accounts differed, the entry was dropped and no question was ever built on it. The medieval questions here passed through that same filter as everything else on the site.

How it runs

Everything happens in the page. A question appears with four options; choose one and the verdict is immediate, with the correct answer shown alongside it. After the seventh question the quiz presents a full review of the run. Your best score is kept in your browser — no account, no signup, nothing to download.
