Six questions on the ship and its voyage

The quiz holds to three subjects: the ship itself, the 1912 voyage, and the rescue. Six questions in all — enough to walk from the shipyard to the open ocean to the survivors without padding. Numbers, names, and places are what the questions will demand, and they are exactly what this page declines to print. The subjects sit more than a century back, which is what qualifies them for this site in the first place: the record stopped moving a long time ago, and the quiz only asks what it settled.

The checking that came first

Before any of these questions existed, two authors wrote the underlying records independently: the same catalog of historical facts, 149 of them, compiled twice and compared key by key. All 149 matched between the two versions. Whenever the authors’ records disagreed, the entry was removed from consideration and no question was built on it. This quiz asks only what survived that comparison — an answer had to be written twice, by two people who never saw each other’s work, before it could be asked once.
