Civil War Quiz
A civil war quiz of 7 questions on the years 1861-1865: the president, Gettysburg, and the surrender. Every answer sits on a record two authors wrote separately and matched key by key.
The ground these 7 questions walk
Four years, 1861 to 1865, carry the whole set. The questions stay inside that span and keep to its fixed points: the president who steered the Union through the war, the battle at Gettysburg, and the surrender that brought the fighting to its close. Seven questions cannot cover a war this size, so the quiz holds to the landmarks every account of the conflict passes through and asks you to place them precisely.
Two authors, one matched record
Every answer on this site comes from a dataset written twice. Two independent authors each compiled the same record — 149 catalog facts and the complete list of all 47 US presidencies — and the two versions were compared key by key before any question was generated. The count came back clean: 149 of 149 facts verified, and 47 of 47 presidency records in agreement on every field. Where the authors could not agree, the question was never asked. The Civil War questions here draw only on entries that survived that comparison.
Playing the quiz
The quiz runs right in the page. Each of the 7 questions gives you four options; choose one and the verdict is instant, with the correct answer displayed whether you got it or not.
